Field Day 2025 Plan at Matt’s (W9MDM)

Location

This year, Field Day will be hosted at Matt’s (W9MDM), 307 S State Rd 2, Hebron, IN. Note to attendees: Do not drive across the driveway into the yard after pulling in; instead, proceed north just past the trees. A sign will mark the driveway entrance.

Schedule

  • Friday, June 27, 2025: Setup starts after 5:00 PM. Tents and grills will be set up, and anyone wanting to camp or hang out is welcome. (ARRL rules allow setup from 0000 UTC Friday—8:00 PM EDT/7:00 PM CDT Thursday—with a 24-hour limit for Class A/B stations.)
  • Saturday, June 28, 2025: The event officially begins at Noon CDT (aligned with the 1800 UTC start). Saturday morning setup is also okay. Operations will run overnight, typically winding down around 2:00 AM Sunday based on past years.
  • Sunday, June 29, 2025: The event concludes at 3:59 PM CDT (2059 UTC), though your group may end earlier.

Activities

  • Bring your own radios and antennas to try out. We’ll operate under the club call K9PC, keeping it casual and social rather than contest-focused.
  • Open to all—hams, non-ham spouses, friends, kids, and those interested in ham radio. It’s a great opportunity to introduce newcomers to the hobby.
  • Barn Utilization: We will utilize the barn for operations and as a backup in case the weather turns bad, as it has repeatedly in past years.

Food Plan

  • Everyone is encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
  • The club will supply meat (burgers, hot dogs, brats) for Saturday’s lunch and dinner, plus breakfast items for Sunday.
  • If you want something beyond the basics for the grill, bring it to cook.
  • Collection Basket: A general collection basket will be available to cover plates, utensils, condiments, and other essentials.

Support our Field Day 2025 at Matt’s (W9MDM)! Your donation helps cover plates, utensils, condiments, porta potty servicing, and other essentials.

Facilities

  • Porta Potty: A porta potty will be on-site for use throughout the event. We will also be taking donations to cover the cost of porta potty servicing—please consider contributing above!

Additional Notes

  • This event shifts from past years at Joe Krajacic (N9TAX) and Brandie’s (W9BLK) place at 648 S. 300 W, Hebron, IN, to Matt’s (W9MDM).
  • Camping is encouraged—bring tents if you’re staying overnight.
