This is a reminder that the next Porter County Amateur Radio Club monthly meeting will be held on:

Friday, June 13th at 7:00 PM
📍 MAAC Foundation – First Responder Training Campus – 4203 Montdale Dr, Valparaiso, IN 46383

Everyone is encouraged to attend.


📋 Meeting Agenda

Our primary focus this month will be planning for ARRL Field Day 2025, which takes place June 28–29. We’ll discuss:

  • Equipment needs
  • Operator schedules
  • Public outreach
  • Logistics coordination
  • And of course… FOOD! 🍔🌭🥗

Your input is essential—come prepared with ideas or to volunteer for specific roles.


📡 Field Day 2025 Overview

🗓️ Date: June 28–29, 2025
🕑 Time: Begins Saturday at 2:00 PM EDT / 1:00 PM CDT, ends Sunday at 4:59 PM EDT / 3:59 PM CDT
🎯 Theme: “Radio Connects” — celebrating amateur radio’s role in uniting communities

Field Day blends emergency preparedness, casual contesting, and community-building. All hams and interested guests are welcome—bring friends, family, or anyone curious about amateur radio!

🚫 Please do not drive across the driveway that is to the north of me and then into my yard.
✅ Instead, proceed north just past the trees—look for a marked sign at the driveway entrance.


🕓 Schedule

Friday, June 27

  • Setup begins after 5:00 PM CDT
  • Tents, grills, and early campers welcome
  • Optional Friday night setup allowed per ARRL rules

Saturday, June 28

  • Event begins officially at Noon CDT (1800 UTC)
  • Additional setup continues in the morning
  • Operations run into early Sunday (~2:00 AM) later if people stay up

Sunday, June 29

  • Operations conclude by 3:59 PM CDT (2059 UTC)

🎙️ Activities

  • Operate under the club call K9PC—casual and friendly
  • Use of the barn for operations and weather backup
  • Got a radio you’ve been wanting to try out? Bring it to Field Day!
  • Got an antenna you’ve been experimenting with or want to show off? Bring it to Field Day!
  • Open to all: hams, non-hams, spouses, kids, and newcomers

🎯 Club Mini Contests:
We’ll be holding a few fun internal contests to keep things interesting, including:

  • Most Contacts per Band – compete for bragging rights across HF and VHF bands
  • Most Unique Call Signs Logged
  • Best Portable Setup (judged by member vote)
  • Longest Distance Contact (“DX King/Queen”)
  • Best Youth Operator (if young hams attend!)

If you have other ideas for mini contests, bring them to the meeting or let us know at Field Day—we’re open to adding more!


🍽️ Food & Contributions

  • Club will provide: burgers, hot dogs, brats (Sat lunch & dinner), and Sun breakfast. Bring some cash to throw in for Friday Night Dinner
  • You bring: a side dish or dessert to share, and BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverages)
  • Grill it yourself: bring your own specialty items if desired

🚽 Facilities

porta potty will be available on-site all weekend. Contributions to help cover the cost are appreciated.


🔄 New Location

This year’s event moves from Joe Krajacic’s (N9TAX) and Brandie’s (W9BLK) to Matt’s (W9MDM).

Camping is encouraged—bring your tent and enjoy the full Field Day experience!
